J Dilla… Another (not so) “Happy Birthday”

James Dewitt Yancey aka Jay Dee aka J DillaFebruary 7, 1974 – February 10, 2006

J Dilla was an American record producer who emerged from the mid-1990s underground hip hop scene in Detroit, Michigan. You can call him one of the music industry’s most influential hip-hop artists, working for big-name acts like A Tribe Called Quest, De La Soul, Busta Rhymes and Common.

His influence in Hip Hop and his track record is immense (J Dilla’s Discography). J Dilla had his hands in countless productions besides his successful career as a solo artist. Read up on him, educate yourself…

J Dilla left behind two daughters. In May 2006, J Dilla’s mother announced the creation of “The J Dilla Foundation” which will work to cure people affected by lupus. Visit http://jdillafoundation.org/ and get involved

Here are my picks in order to honor James Dewitt Yancey. I wanted to limit it to one or two but it was impossible because they were all too dope…
