NYCROPHONE has been supporting Ddendyl since day 1 (which for us was when we discovered her through The Voice ” Season 6) and vice versa. She was actually one of our first Acoustic Gold artists, recording a live set with us May 2014. One thing led to another and we had her perform at our popular AG concert series at Rockwood Music Hall this past October. It was a sold out show where Ddendyl performed the wonderful song “Walls” among others. Right then and there we told her that we’d love to have her back in the studio to record this particular track with us! That’s exactly what happened a couple of months later, recording our last session at ishlab studio end of December 2014.
Ddendyl came through and the studio was buzzin’ with energy and excitement. Accompanied by her bassist Shakespeare and good friend & singer Jay Lex, she performed two magnificent originals for us, “Walls” and “Addiction“. To top it off she did a special cover of Meghan Trainor’s “All About That Bass” and Beyoncé’s “Drunk In Love” (which won the Grammy for “Best R&B Performance” this year)! We all had a blast, artists AND the NYCROPHONE team plus various guests who came through to show support!
Enjoy the result of what we think is one of our best sessions yet. We are in love with the outcome – Ddendyl sounds and looks amazing, thanks to terrific audio engineering, camera work and lighting – well, and of course Jay Lex & Shakespeare! It will not be the last time we’ve worked with this talented young lady. Look out for more. In the meanwhile, please share this feature and the individual videos.
