  • worthy #1In my young impressionable youth I once tried to chew the same piece of gum for 3 days after watching Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.
  • worthy #2I even tried storing said piece of gum behind my ear. Which resulted in an impromptu hair cut. LOL
  • worthy #3I hate cockroaches. And equally shrimp. Because I firmly believe they are one and the same - one for land, one for water.

The Vancouver born, Texas Raised, Florida reformed, and Brooklyn saved vocalist is on a roll with a strong finish to 2013. Larochelle took on a leading role in the group “Voice Play” for the NBC hit show “Sing off” where her group was a quarter finalist. in addition the soul music authority, “Soul Tracks” awarded Honey, “Best New Artist,” reader’s choice award for her debut release The Yes Feeling. This critical acclaim has only highlighted the profile of Honey
who has been described as Funky like Chaka, Soulful like Alicia and Edgy like Lauryn.

Mellissa Mya Larochelle, known professionally as Honey Larochelle, has been all over the world searching for her“sound.” Born to a mother who was a singer for many popular soul groups in the 70’s and 80’s, Honey was born to sing. That ambition ultimately took her to Orlando, Florida where she began to develop her professional music career. it was easy for her to initially break into the professional scene at Disney World and Universal Studios, where she stood out as a performer and was ultimately awarded Best Female, Acappella Lead. This underscores her versatility, “i can emulate just about anybody, and that’s why it took me so long to figure out who i am and my sound. Finally, I’m clear… I’m a lot of different people all rolled into one, and i love being me!” says Honey.

Honey has toured with the Brand New Heavies, Joss Stone, Omar and many other bands eventually leading to her first record deal with Macy Gray that didn’t come to fruition. Between touring as a background singer, producing, arranging, and writing for other artists, Honey rarely had time to reflect and explore inward for the sound she was looking for; one that moved her and felt like home.

Finally, after many twists and turns in her story, this Roberta Flack protege discovered her very own warm yet edgy mash up of classic soul, R&B, hip-hop and reggae music. Honey found and coined it the Fun & Sexy Side of Soul Music. Butter Fly Soul Records is pleased to announce the release of Honey Larochelle’s debut album, “The Yes Feeling” launched in 2013 and now getting some of the recognition it deserves.
